"I read the series this past week. Good stories and only one criticism. Please find another word for 'wedged' when describing a hip against a counter, a shoulder against a doorjamb, hands on hips or feet on a dash. I stopped counting in book three. From then on it was like a sore tooth. Not enough to make me quit, just annoying."

Bulletproof SEAL Red White and Built Carol Ericson 9781335639035 Books Reviews

  • Rikki and Quinn are the final characters in the series that focused on a) an anonymous, high level person named Ariel who had power no one could understand; b) Vlad, a sniper a SEAL team of snipers has been trying to catch throughout the various books of this series.

Rikki and Quinn had a sexual encounter almost two years ago. Rikki gets scared at her feelings and leaves Quinn to go off on a CIA mission in Korea. A couple of months later, Quinn is assigned the task to go to Korea to assassinate a spy who's "proven" to be a traitor. When he sees Rikki in his crosshairs, it's the first time he sweats about not being able to pull the trigger. He doesn't have to worry about pulling the trigger since he witnesses through his scope her being shot by those she's supposed to be working with now.

Sixteen months later, Rikki decides she wants to clear her name and see the man she loves and also knows was sent to kill her. When she meets up with him, Quinn is a mess. Apparently he drinks a lot when he's not on deployment. Their original encounter is comical as she has him strip down to his boxers and handcuffs him to a pipe so he can't go anywhere.

Quinn convinces her he knew she wasn't a traitor and when he was there to kill her, he tried to help her. He also convinces her he wants to help her in her quest to clear her name. Of course Ariel just happens to be someone Rikki knows and is the high level person who is helping her. Quinn, since ALL of his other sniper team mates have "worked for" this Ariel in her quest for Vlad, feels better about Rikki's quest.

Doesn't take long for them to have sex. Rikki tells him it's not gonna happen and then she asks for it pretty much ten minutes later. Quinn is happy to oblige. After having thought he lost her before, his view on their relationship changes. Before he wanted her in his life no matter what. Now, he's matured and is happy she's alive so if she decides to walk out on him when her name is clear, he's ok with it.

By biggest peeve with this story is how every other page (it felt like) Rikki is thinking I have to tell him about Bella. I have to tell him he has a daughter...but I'll wait until _______." Of course he finds out and its not from her. All that build up and he isn't even angry (a bit unrealistic).

I felt the climax of getting all the SEALs from the previous books together to finally take down Vlad fell flat. Ariel reveals herself, and it's also anticlimactic. Even after referencing an earlier series involving Prospero could have expanded so much more. The takedown of Vlad, after 6 books of building it up, was a couple of paragraphs. We also don't find out just why Ariel has something personal involved and her determination of just why she's pulled so many strings within these books to bring this guy down.

Remove Vlad, Ariel and all that could be and this book held adventure, mystery, and a compatible couple. You could feel their feelings for one another. All the couples within this series stayed true to themselves. All the SEALs remained just that. And the women didn't give up for the relationships either. However, Rikki being a mom now was waffling on continuing with being a CIA spy and that wasn't resolved. It was also nice to see all the characters from the books come together.
  • A really great read. The author had me hooked from beginning to end, and the mystery involved in solving the mystery was really intense and intriguing.

Rikki is being set up as a traitor by the one person she trusted. To top it off her lover (Quinn) was sent in to end her life after she was captured by the enemy. Unbeknownst to Quinn he was not aware at first that she was his target and upon realizing who it was he would not believe that she would betray her country and tried to help her escape instead.

  • I really enjoyed this book, I read all of Carol Erickson books as the stories are real and very enjoyable....
  • A riveting read! We're familiar with several of the players in this book from previous stories in the series, and this one brings us the story of CIA agent Rikki Taylor and Navy SEAL Quinn McBride. It's an action packed story that takes us for a ride filled with danger and intrigue. I'm assuming from the outcome that this is the last in the series ... and under this assumption, the ending seemed very rushed and left a lot of vague answers open. The characters were well developed, the plot was well-played, but the ending was a bit flat. Overall an entertaining read!

When Navy SEAL Quinn McBride was given the order to take out a traitor in the CIA, he has no idea until he's in the middle of the mission that it's his former lover, Rikki Taylor who is going to be on the other end of his sniper rifle. He knows her well ... there's no way she's guilty of betraying her country!

Assumed dead former CIA agent Rikki Taylor wants her life back. She was betrayed and set up to take a fall by someone, and her former lover might have been in on it for all she knows since he was the one sent to kill her. She has to find the answers she needs once and for all in order to be able to have a life again in the US ... but finding Quinn to get some answers has to be her first step ... and if he turns out to be as innocent as she is, she'll tell him about the daughter they share!
  • Quinn is a sniper and he found out that his lover is a traitor and he's the one who has to take her town. Things seem to go south though when shes shot by the people they thought she was being a traitor. Rikki was believed to be dead so imagine his surprise when she shows up trying to clear her name but it looks like there is something deeper going on that needs to get settled.

Overall I thought that this was was a pretty good mystery romance book. I thought the characters were pretty good, wished I could've gotten to know more about them, but for the short amount of pages there's only so much you can learn about the character. I loved that there was plenty going on to keep the readers hooked, I managed to finish this book in a about a day because I was curious to see more of what was in store for the two, when would Rikki break the news to Quinn, what would really help her out to clearing her name. There is pretty to enjoy about this book so if you are looking for a good short mystery book with romance then your going to want to check this book out.
  • The plot was well done and the love that you can see. The author captures your imagination and runs with it happily to the end.
